Ellen Brook was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1963 and found her way to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1997. After calling many cities and towns ‘home’ and traveling extensively – including a stretch in Asia – she began her artistic journey in California. Investigations into consciousness and meditation led to her discovery of painting on silk. Her artistic explorations revealed a deep resonance with the spontaneity, sensuality and visual poetry available in this art form as well as the global historical and cultural connections embodied in it. In addition to her art practice, Ellen also designs and creates original, hand-made women’s clothing on silk. Websites: www.ellen-brook.com and www.ellenbrookclothingworks.com
